EDITORIAL: The Alarming Proposal by Elon Musk to Dissolve the European Union

In recent hours, a statement by tech magnate Elon Musk has ignited geopolitical alarms. We refer to his inconceivable proposal for the dissolution of the European Union.

This is not just another opinion in the noisy digital landscape, but a revealing symptom of a profound ideological current that seeks to reconfigure the world according to the designs of technocratic power and radical individual sovereignty.

Faced with this proposal, which might sound like mere provocation, Teclalibre Multimedios believes we must pose questions.

What vision of the future does this approach embody? And whose interests does dismantling one of the most ambitious peace and integration projects in modern history serve?

The European Union, with all its imperfections and bureaucracies, is not a historical accident.

It is the institutional response to centuries of fratricidal wars, a pact born from the ashes of two world conflagrations and built upon the sacrifice of millions.

The core of this praiseworthy integration is the conviction that shared sovereignty, constant dialogue, and common rules are the most powerful antidotes against the barbarity imposed in the past by the isolated force of nation-states.

Dissolving the European Union would not be an «innovative reset,» but a leap into the historical void, a regression to the logic of clashing blocs and exacerbated rivalries, at a time when humanity faces challenges—such as climate change or the regulation of artificial intelligence—that demand, precisely, more cooperation, not less.

We are convinced that behind Musk’s proposal lies the ideal of boundless individual and corporate sovereignty; a world where collective bonds dissolve and power concentrates in those who control capital, technology, and data.

It pulsates with the old philosophy of «every man for himself» seeking to control global governance.

For a figure like Musk, whose companies operate in orbits above national regulations, supranational structures like the EU represent an obstacle.

Musk represents business entities with an unstoppable vocation to place themselves above what should be a logical and humanized digital competition, one where the protection of users, labor, and fiscal rights reigns supreme.

Hence, a continent fragmented into 27 deregulated markets would, evidently, be more manageable for a tech giant than a unified bloc with common standards.

Within that framework, we would uncontrollably erect a capitalist technocracy that would become an alternative to true democracy.

The argument, seductive to some, is that the algorithmic efficiency and disruptive innovation of «visionaries» are superior to the deliberative slowness of parliaments.

An innovative form of 21st-century algorithmic despotism.

It is delegating the destiny of societies to those who possess capital and code, in substitution of current representatives.

The proposal to dissolve European integration is alarming because it constitutes a market blow against politics, a declaration that the value of efficiency surpasses the value of solidarity, and that technological progress justifies the dismantling of social achievements.

The interests behind this dissolving impulse are tangible. A weakened or vanished EU benefits actors who thrive on deregulation and fragmentation: speculative capital, tech giants that evade robust tax authorities, and authoritarian powers that prefer to negotiate with isolated and vulnerable states rather than with a cohesive bloc.

We would succumb to the logic of «divide and conquer» applied to geopolitical architecture.

In that context, European citizens would lose, at a stroke, the protection of a single market, of courts that defend their rights, of cohesion projects that reduce inequalities, and of a common voice on the world stage.

Therefore, Musk’s proposal must not be read as an eccentric whim. It must be interpreted as the spearhead of a world project, an archipelago of hyper-powerful individuals and corporations, where collective responsibility vanishes and the strongest dictates the rules.

Faced with this fragmentary and dehumanizing vision, we must forcefully reclaim politics as the art of the common, of the shared, of what is built among all.

For Teclalibre Multimedios, the voice of truth, the task of the 21st century is not to dissolve integration projects, but to reinvent them, democratize them, and make them more agile and just.

We believe the necessary and ingenious true innovation must not only be technological; it must equally be sociopolitical, one where technology serves the common good, defending peace and collective dignity against the new absolutisms.

To ignore this alarm would be a historical luxury we cannot afford.

The European Union, with all its crises, remains a precious experiment in supranational coexistence.

Defending its relevance is not nostalgia; it is an act of responsibility toward the future. Therefore, we interpret Elon Musk’s proposal as dangerously alarming.
