Trump should have consensualized his big idea of returning greatness to the U.S.

It is evident that the idea of restoring the greatness of the United States raised by the current president of this great nation permeated the American sentiment in what was the 2015-2016 electoral process and, that same idea again decided in his favor last November’s elections here.

The strategy was and continues to be transcendent.

It is clear that, the neoliberal development model that from 1989-1980 of the last century began to replace the Welfare State; born as a response to the socialist political-economic regime established in Russia, had collapsed during the great economic crisis of 2008.

That crisis, which began in the U.S. real estate sector, very quickly spread to insurance companies, and from insurance companies it spread to the financial or banking sector, dragging down the bulk of the stock markets throughout the West and much of Asia.

Simply put, 28 years after the establishment of neoliberalism from the trial applied in Chile during the regime of General Augusto Pinochet, the most developed nations on the planet, led by the United States and the United Kingdom, had gone bankrupt.

In our book entitled The Great Collapse of Neoliberalism, we showed that, at the time the United States began to promote this development model, it owed only a little more than 900 million dollars. However, after 28 years, that is, in 2008, the debt of this nation exceeded its gross domestic product.

In short, I maintained and continue to maintain that during the paternalistic economic and social regime, the cradle of Washington became richer and consolidated its empire. On the other hand, during the first 28 years of neoliberalism, it went bankrupt, along with the bulk of the countries of Europe, which followed to the letter the postulates emanating from the Chicago school of economics, with its mentor Milton Friedman and his Austrian counterpart, Friedrich Hayes.

Hence, it is within the framework of that economic reality, when the current U.S. president, Donald Trump first came to power on January 20, 2016, based on his electoral offer to restore greatness to Lincoln’s homeland.

During that first presidential term, Donald Trump did not agree with the Democratic opposition, nor with the other segments or instances of American power, his electoral proposal to restore the greatness of this country, which evidently had been dissolving in the labyrinth of globalization that accompanied the collapsed neoliberalism.

Donald ran for reelection and the electoral authorities established that he lost the 2020 elections, but the then ruler did not recognize it. Despite this, in a difficult political crisis, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden was sworn in for four years on January 20, 2021.

It should be noted that President Trump made a systematic opposition to Biden, while facing an amalgam of accusations and, when not, trials and convictions in the courts. Despite that judicial barrage, he managed to prevail over the then Vice President, Kamala Harris, returning to the White House on January 20.

His strong speech to return the undocumented immigrants to their homelands, together with the slogan of taking back the greatness of this nation, won him the vote of the electoral delegates and the popular vote.

Reinstalled in the government of the most powerful nation on the planet, he immediately began to apply his campaign promises, ordering the detention and departure of thousands of undocumented immigrants, while using his constitutional powers to apply an aggressive tariff policy which, I understand, he had to reach a consensus with national, European and even Asian economic agents, which would allow him to achieve his great objective of taking back the greatness of the great country to the North of our continent.
